Princess Charlotte has a reputation for being feisty compared with her older brother George, and in the past, Kate has described the young princess as “the one in charge”

GB News royal reporter Cameron Walker has paid tribute to Princess Charlotte on her birthday as she turned nine years old.

The Royal Family have released a new snap of the young princess to celebrate her birthday where she beaming as she leans against a fence covered in pink flowers.

Cameron told GB News viewers that the young princess has a fiery nature and is often spotted telling off her brothers.

The royal reporter said: "She's very feisty, this nine-year-old girl. I think she's perhaps a little bit more outgoing than her brother Prince George.

"Princess Catherine described her recently as the one in charge. She was spotted reminding her older brother George, who of course, is the future king, to bow to the coffin of their great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, back in September 2022.

"She's also been known to keep her younger brother Prince Louis in check on several occasions.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

"Prince Louis was, let's say, over-enthusiastic with his waving to the crowds in the carriage during Trooping the Colour last year, and Princess Charlotte just very calmly put her hand on his to calm him down a little bit.

"On the balcony, Prince Louis accidentally smacked his older sister in the head, which didn't go down too well with Princess Charlotte.

"But she clearly knew she was on display and did not make too much of a fuss and kind of let it slide.

"Perhaps in private, there was a bit more of a reckoning to be had with her younger brother. "

Kensington Palace typically releases portraits of the Wales children the night before to mark their birthdays.

However, in a break with tradition, William and Kate shared a photo of their younger son on the afternoon of Louis' birthday directly on social media and did the same thing with Princess Charlotte.

It is thought the couple initially decided not to issue a photograph at all given their recent appeals for privacy at such an "unprecedented" time for their family, but they changed their minds because they wanted to thank fans for their kind wishes to Prince Louis.

The past few months have been an eventful period for the family after Kate and King Charles were both diagnosed with cancer.

The future Queen announced in a video message in March she was undergoing preventative chemotherapy.

Katherine is currently recovering in private but her husband Prince William has recently confirmed that she is "doing well" when he attended James's Place, a suicide prevention charity.

The King is still receiving treatment but returned to his royal duties earlier this week.
