The Princess of Wales is joining William and their children on a half term holiday

Princess Kate is “looking forward to a change of scene” as she leaves Windsor home for the first time since her operation.

The Princes of Wales has been recovering from an abdominal surgery at Adelaide Cottage after spending almost two weeks in hospital.

Kate went away with her three children and her husband, Prince William, for a half-term holiday in Norfolk.

On Thursday, the family travelled to Sandringham estate where the King is also staying.

A source said: “She [Kate] was looking forward to a change of scene and will be able to take it easy in Norfolk while the children let off steam with William.”

On January 17, Kensington Palace revealed that Kate “is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.”

The source told the Daily Mail that "Catherine is recovering well."

The princess is now well enough to travel for the first time from Windsor to Sandringham.

Kate and her family will be staying at Anmer Hall, a ten-bedroom home on the Sandringham estate.

Kate and William's three children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5, broke up for the holidays on Friday.

While they are there, the children may see their grandfather, the King, depending on the medical advice he has been given.

The King was recently diagnosed with a form of cancer, although Buckingham Palace did not disclose the specific type.

On Wednesday this week, Prince William shared a rare insight into support for Kate and the King.

During a speech at a charity event in London, Prince William expressed his thanks for messages of support for his wife, Kate, and the King following their recent health concerns.

William said: “I'd like to take this opportunity to say thank you, also, for the kind messages of support for Catherine and for my father, especially in recent days. It means a great deal to us all.”

William attended the London Air Ambulance Gala at Raffles, a luxurious hotel in London, where he brushed shoulders with Hollywood star Tom Cruise.
