The video featuring Mr Beckham is the most liked post on the Royal Family's account

Sir David Beckham's knighthood has achieved double the number of likes compared to a post about Charles being crowned King in an awkward moment for the royals.

The video featuring Sir David has received more than two million likes on Instagram in just one day, compared to over a million for the King, which was posted over two years ago.

The most liked Instagram post featuring the royals comes from the Prince and Princess of Wales's account, with a photo of Prince William, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, achieving 2.4 million likes.

After only one day, the video featuring Sir David is within touching distance of becoming the most liked post, including any royal.

Sir David received his knighthood from King Charles yesterday, with the former England captain marking the occasion in a bespoke morning suit created by his wife, Victoria Beckham.

The 50-year-old football icon was recognised for his contributions to sport and charitable work during the investiture ceremony.

Lady Victoria, 51, who received her OBE in 2017, attended the ceremony alongside Mr Beckham's mother, Sandra and father Ted.

Mr Beckham's parents accompanied the former Manchester United star to Windsor, marking their first attendance at such a royal ceremony.

When the footballer received his OBE in 2003, he chose instead to bring his maternal grandparents Joe and Peggy, both of whom have since passed away.

Sandra Beckham honoured the family business by wearing a dress from her daughter-in-law's fashion label.

"David's mum and dad didn't go before," a family friend told the Mail, noting how the footballer had specifically selected his grandparents for the previous honour, "as he knew just how much it would mean to them".

Sir David's grandparents played a key role in fostering his connection to the monarchy during his childhood.

Sir David recalled watching his grandfather rise from his seat whenever the Queen delivered her Christmas Day broadcast.

"They adored the Royal Family and were loyal monarchists who had so much respect for the late Queen," the family friend noted.

Sir David discovered in the spring that he would be featured in the King's Birthday Honours, prompting Lady Victoria to embark on her secret tailoring project in June.

The tailored three-piece outfit represents a milestone for the fashion designer - it marks both her debut in creating men's formal wear with a tailcoat and the first garment she has ever produced for her husband.

The King's popularity has improved in recent months, up to 62 per cent from 59, according to a recent YouGov poll.

However, 29 per cent still do view Charles in a negative light.

Nearly six-in-10 Britons still have a favourable view of the royals as a whole, which has fallen from 65 per cent in August.

Despite this fall, 62 per cent still believe the monarchy should continue, compared to just 25 per cent who feel we should have an elected head of state instead.
