The former duke moved into Marsh Farm in February

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's residence at Marsh Farm now bears the hallmark of every other tenant on the Sandringham estate - a light blue front door.

The former prince took up residence in the five-bedroom property a fortnight ago, marking his permanent relocation following exile from Royal Lodge.

But his front door now matches those of the hundreds of other tenants across King Charles's Norfolk estate, symbolising the extent of his descent from royal privilege to an ordinary tenant.

The tradition of painting doors in this distinctive shade was established by the Queen Mother and applies to all 300-plus properties spanning 12 villages across the 20,000-acre estate.

"Andrew has a front door matching the Sandringham staff, which shows just how far he has fallen from grace. He is now just like every other tenant," one local resident observed.

"The colour of the front door indicates the house is owned by the King, so it's a constant reminder that his brother is paying for him to live there.

"As a tenant, you are not allowed to change the front door, so he is stuck with it."

The King's Sandringham property portfolio carries an estimated value of approximately £75million.

The former working farm sits in Wolferton, positioned on a flood plain approximately two miles from the King's principal Sandringham House residence.

The property is geographically isolated from the wider Norfolk area by the Dersingham Bog.

Marsh Farm comprises a main house featuring two reception rooms and a kitchen, alongside several outbuildings.

The property is said to have stood vacant for a considerable period before workmen undertook extensive renovation works over several months to prepare it for Andrew's arrival.

Property records reveal that Queen Elizabeth II acquired Marsh Farm in 2013, with ownership subsequently transferring to King Charles following her death in 2022.

Andrew's fall from grace has been precipitous over recent months.

King Charles stripped his younger brother of his remaining titles, including prince and Duke of York, in October last year.

The former royal departed Royal Lodge in Windsor at the beginning of February, where he had previously paid only a nominal rent.
