A senior MP has demanded that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Lord Mandelson face an investigation for alleged treason.
Ex-Security Minister Tom Tugendhat is calling for a special committee to look into both men and their links with the disgraced financier Epstein.
The committee would be made up of MPs, peers, and retired judges who would have the power to summon witnesses and access documents.
Mr Tungenhat claimed: “This affair raises urgent questions about foreign influence and national security. What did the Palace know? What did ministers know? What else is being hidden?

“This goes beyond what a court could reasonably consider.
“Parliament must consider what it means for the country. If the worst is proved, do we need to revisit treason laws written 700 years ago?”
Both Andrew and Mr Mandelson are being investigated by the police for misconduct in public office.
However, both men have consistently denied any wrongdoing.
Andrew was arrested at 8am on his 66th birthday on Thursday.
Mr Tungenhat continued: “If these accusations are true, they expose something rotten at the top of the State. If they are not, the public needs proof that the guardrails are strong.
“Either way, Parliament must send a clear message — Britain will defend itself from every threat, even if it comes from the very top,” he concluded to the Sun.

The last person to be convicted of treason was Jaswant Singh Chaii, who entered Windsor Castle with a crossbow with a plan to kill Queen Elizabeth II in 2021.
He was jailed for nine years in 2023.
Andrew was released from Aylsham Police Station after 11 hours in police custody.

GB News confirmed on Friday that Thames Valley Police will continue its searches of Andrew’s former home, Royal Lodge, over the weekend.
The force has since said that search operations at the former Duke of York's previous residence will extend through to Monday.
