The White House is now 'looking into' the broadcaster's doctoring of the President's speech

Donald Trump Jr has labelled the BBC's reporters "dishonest" after it was revealed that the broadcaster "doctored" his father's speech to make it look like he was encouraging his supporters to riot.

A leaked memo concluded that the BBC's Panorama programme had made Mr Trump "say things [he] never actually said" by "mangling" footage.

And now, the President's eldest son has launched a scathing attack on social media.

The 47-year-old wrote: "The FAKE NEWS 'reporters' in the UK are just as dishonest and full of s*** as the ones here in America!" in response to the story, first reported on Monday by The Telegraph.

Mr Trump's son was present alongside his father for his January 6 speech addressing supporters before the Capitol was stormed.

The Panorama programme, which aired just one week before the 2024 presidential elections, showed Mr Trump telling the crowd he would join them in marching towards the Capitol to "fight like hell".

However, the then-45th President actually said he would walk with them to "peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard”.

According to the memo, Panorama intentially showcased Mr Trump's supporters heading towards the Capitol to "create the impression" that they "had taken up his ‘call to arms’”.

The US President has long criticised mainstream media outlets for what he says is a clear bias against him.

Speaking on Air Force One after his unprecedented second State Visit to Britain in September, Mr Trump told reporters: "I have read some place that the networks were 97 per cent against me, again, 97 per cent negative, and yet I won and easily [in last year's election].

"They give me only bad publicity [and] press."

Mr Trump has also called the media an "enemy of the people" in the past.

The President recently received a $16million (£12.2million) settlement from CBS News after he accused the network of editing an interview with Kamala Harris in a favourable way towards her.

Mr Trump's eldest has also been a critic of alleged media bias against his father, launching his own app, MxM, saying it would aim to provide the public with more balanced news coverage.

Former BBC journalist Michael Prescott, who recently wrote a report on the public broadcaster's bias, said he was "struck" by the Panorama programme's "distinctly anti-Trump stance".

Mr Prescott added that he was "shocked" that the BBC had not made a similar programme about Kamala Harris.

The Conservative Party has now called for an investigation into why the programme, titled "Trump: A Second Chance?", was aired.

Shadow Culture Secretary Nigel Huddleston said: “These are extremely concerning revelations that could seriously undermine the brand and reputation of the BBC.

“The BBC licence fee is justified on the basis of impartiality and trust."

A BBC spokesman told GB News: "While we don't comment on leaked documents... When the BBC receives feedback it takes it seriously and considers it carefully.

"Michael Prescott is a former adviser to a board committee where differing views and opinions of our coverage are routinely discussed and debates."
