In this exclusive video for GB News members, Deputy Political Editor Tom Harwood assesses the Government's position after the Supreme Court's ruling

Speaking today from the GB Newsroom, Tom Harwood gave his assessment: "If Rishi Sunak thought his day was starting off well with his inflation target being hit, he's hit now an iceberg.

"His whole premise of immigration policy has been struck down by the Supreme Court, and yet even more grave than that, the options the Prime Minister now has look sparse and few. Why is that?

"The Supreme Court did not just say that this was unlawful on the grounds of the ECHR.

"It also specifically referenced other international treaties, i.e. the Prime Minister will find it very hard to just address certain provisions that the Supreme Court has said.

"Either he now has to find another country to send asylum seekers to who have arrived in the UK illegally, or he's going to have to find another sort of deal.

"How is he going to deal with more more ferocious and more vocal backbenchers? This is going to be a very trying time for Conservative Party unity."
