Nigel Farage has revealed his home was targeted in a suspected arson attack as the Reform UK leader opened up about the "grim reality" of his security arrangements.
The Clacton MP detailed how a lit incendiary device was placed into his letterbox last year, admitting there were "huge dangers in this job".
Police investigated the attack, which was carried out at the start of 2025. However, officers were unable to identify the suspects.
"It was an outright arson attempt. I wasn’t at home at the time, but when I came back and opened the door I found the damage," Mr Farage told The Telegraph.
"Luckily it had burned itself out in the porch, and we think maybe the perpetrators were disturbed in the act. The police were all over it."
Mr Farage also discussed how he received a seven-figure gift to spend on his security arrangements from British billionaire Christopher Harborne ahead of re-entering politics in 2024.
The hefty sum for his security is believed to fall within the region of £5million.
"This money was given to me so that I would be safe and secure for the rest of my life," he told The Telegraph.

He added that he had "tried and failed" to have security funded via the Home Office.
"I don’t think the state will ever help me. I'm very much on my own and will be for the rest of my life, and I have to face up to that grim reality," he revealed.
"Christopher is an ardent supporter who is deeply concerned for my safety."
The former Brexit Party leader said that he was "acutely" aware of the love and "levels of antipathy" expressed towards him.
He mentioned that many attacks go unreported, with pints of beer thrown over him.
On one occasion, Mr Farage said he had to write off his car after a gaggle of protesters left the vehicle damaged.

"I would rather not be discussing any of this but I am having to because someone has got hold of material about my private finances, which is outrageous, and which I believe was illegally obtained," he said.
During the last general election, Mr Farage was hit with a milkshake while out on the campaign trail in Clacton.
Victoria Thomas Bowen, who threw the McDonald's drink at the leader, received a suspended prison sentence in December that year.
She was told to pay Mr Farage £150 compensation, complete 120 hours of unpaid work and pay £450 in court costs.
The woman admitted assault by beating and criminal damage at a previous court hearing after she launched the attack on the political leader while he left the Moon and Starfish pub.
After the 25-year-old was sentenced, Mr Farage said: "We now live in a country where you can assault a Member of Parliament and not go to prison."
Mr Farage was previously hit with a milkshake on the 2019 campaign trail in Newcastle's city centre.
Mr Harborne was with the high-profile politician at the time of the assault and raised concerns over his security arrangements.
