Prime Minister Keir Starmer said Reform UK's migration policy is 'racist and immoral'

A Labour peer has offered a personal apology to Reform UK leader Nigel Farage on GB News this evening, stating that he "knows that he is not racist" after a tirade of attacks from the Labour party.

Lord Maurice Glasman described himself as "honoured" to consider Mr Farage a friend and called the situation "a disgrace to me as well."

The apology comes amid escalating tensions between Labour and Reform UK, which reached new heights during the recent Labour conference in Liverpool.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer said Reform UK's migration policy is "racist and immoral" for wanting to remove people who are "lawfully here".

Speaking to Mr Farage on GB News, Lord Glasman said: "First of all, before we go any further, I’m very proud to be Labour and I’m very ashamed about the accusation of calling you a racist.

“I’m going around this conference and I’ll be writing articles absolutely disputing that. I know, Nigel, that you are not a racist.

"I know that you spend a huge amount of your time expelling racists from Reform, so please accept my personal apology, not from the party, but from me.

“I’m honoured to be on GB News. I’m honoured, actually, to think of you as a friend. So that’s a disgrace to me as well."

Mr Farage thanked Lord Glasman for his remarks, acknowledging their political differences.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer used his keynote address to launch a direct challenge to Reform UK, declaring that Labour would "fight you with everything we have" in the run-up to the next general election.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

The Prime Minister specifically targeted Reform UK's immigration proposals, particularly their plan to abolish "indefinite leave to remain" status.

This policy could result in long-term UK residents facing deportation if their earnings fall below certain thresholds, even after decades of living in Britain.

The Reform UK leader responded forcefully to Labour's sustained criticism, characterising the attacks as excessive and undignified.

Speaking immediately after Mr Starmer's conference address, Mr Farage described the Prime Minister's approach as "a descent into the gutter".

"It's a constant attack on me on what we stand for," he stated.

He characterised Labour's recent focus on him and his party as "obsessive", and said it was "inciting violence" in the wake of the murder of Charlie Kirk.
