Labour ministers spark outrage after posing for photos with 'extremist's sister' who denounced calls for Hamas to end violence

Mr El-Fattah, who was recently released after being pardoned by Egypt's president Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, had appeared to call for violence against Zionists, white people and police in a series of online comments.

Senior Conservative and Reform UK politicians have suggested he should have his British citizenship stripped for the posts, although it is understood there are no current plans for this and the law does not appear to provide grounds to deport him.

Now, past tweets have emerged of Ms Seif attacking Amnesty International after they urged both the Israeli Government and Hamas to stop attacks against civilians in the Middle East.

In a post dating back to 2012, she said: "You don't ask an occupied nation to stop their "Resistance" to end violence. SHAME ON YOU!!!"

Other posts from 2011 emerged where she threatened to "kill" several people in social media posts.

On the day after the October 7 massacre in 2023, she wrote: "My personal belief, within the occupied, besieged and bombarded by land, armed resistance is understandably one of the main forms of resistance. Beyond the boundaries, only non-violent methods should be endorsed in solidarity."

She also suggested it was "hypocrisy" to condemn the actions of Hamas on October 7, in which 1,320 Israelis were killed and more than 251 people were taken hostage, while supporting Ukraine’s defence against the Russian invasion.

Ms Seif wrote: "Once again the discrepancy between many of those celebrating Ukrainian resistance but now condemn Palestinian resistance, speaks loudly of their hypocrisy.

"You are either with people's right to resist an army occupation or not! It can't be 'only for people who look like me'."

In 2012, she wrote: "Is there such a thing as 'legitimate' occupation? F**k occupation, f**k Israel!"

Now, GB News has uncovered historic images of Deputy Prime Minister Secretary David Lammy and Energy Secretary Ed Miliband with Ms Seif.

In a post to X, then Twitter, in 2022, Mr Miliband, the former Labour leader, posted a picture with Ms Seif, accompanied with the caption: "Yesterday I met Mona, the sister of Alaa Abd el-Fattah, a British citizen imprisoned in Egypt for posting on social media."

Mr Lammy, then Shadow Foreign Secretary, posed for a picture with Ms Seif in October 2022 during a sit-in outside the Foreign Office in London.

A social media post from then-Foreign Secretary James Cleverly on November 3, 2022, also revealed he spoke with Ms Seif, adding: "We will continue to work tirelessly for [Mr El-Fattah's] release."

Shadow Justice Secretary Robert Jenrick said: "As with her brother, it only took a few minutes to find these extreme views on her social media.

"You’d have thought civil servants in the (Foreign Office) or the politicians who praised her would have done so.

"Perhaps then they would have delved into her brother and spotted that Alaa himself had what Starmer now concedes are ‘abhorrent’ views.

"It’s hard to comprehend the incompetence. Or maybe they did know Alaa and his sister were extremists, but concealed it because it didn’t suit their agenda? We need answers."

In a post on social media, Ms Seif criticised social media users, writing: "So now silly bantering between me and friends saying ‘I will kill you’ over silly joking tweets are now circulating to claim I am a violent person! Are you out of your minds?"

Responding to Mr Fattah’s past remarks, she said: "I am tired of talking about my brother as if we are still crammed into the same bottle of the past 15 years.

"I am bored that all the time we have to fight two ghouls and the possibility of violence is driven by rotten political battles. I am fed up that this saga is not satisfied to end and leave us trying to recover in a safe space with our children."

Mr Abd El-Fattah has since has apologised for his comments, saying he understands "how shocking and hurtful" his previous comments were.
