A Labour MP has acknowledged that the Government will need voters to grant them another parliamentary term to achieve their election commitments, including tackling illegal immigration.
Speaking to GB News, James Murray conceded that fulfilling the party's manifesto pledges would extend beyond the current Parliament.
On Saturday afternoon, 125 migrants crossed the Channel in a "mega dinghy", the biggest ever number of illegal arrivals on a single boat.
GB News confirmed that the total of migrants that crossed the Channel into Britain topped 1,300 over the weekend.

Mr Murray specifically highlighted immigration control as a key priority requiring sustained effort. He said: "We have to get immigration under control.
"We have to close the asylum hotels, we have to build more housing, we have to invest in transport, all of the stuff we said we were going to do."
The minister emphasised that whilst progress would be made, the complete transformation promised to voters would necessitate re-election.
Mr Murray outlined the Government's comprehensive strategy to address immigration concerns.
He declared: "The job will not be done by the end of this Parliament, but we will have started taking steps in the right direction.
"We are not going to let up until we have done everything we possibly can to get those numbers down."

He went on to back her direct approach in confronting those who might abuse the nation's generosity or legal framework.
"We know there's no silver bullet to this problem. If there was a silver bullet, someone would have found it already.
"Look at what the Home Secretary, Shabana Mahmood, has been saying.
"If people are trying to take the mick out of our values, or out of our generosity, or out of the laws of our country, she takes it head on and says, no, we're going to tackle this. We're going to go at it. We're going to fight for what is right.
"And that's exactly her approach, and is exactly the approach of all of us across Government."

Mr Murray stressed the Government's commitment to pursuing multiple solutions simultaneously to reduce Channel crossings and fulfil their promise to shut down asylum accommodation facilities before the Parliament concludes.
He concluded: "You have to go at the problem from every possible angle, but look at the determination of Shabana.
"Look at the determination that we have to go at this from every possible angle, to make sure that we relentlessly do everything we can to get those numbers down of people coming across the Channel.
"We must get asylum hotels closed by the end of this Parliament, and to make sure that we bring migration down, because that's what the British people want."
