The Prime Minister marked a 'new era' for Britain and Europe with their new 'win-win' deal

Former Labour MP Baroness Kate Hoey has launched a scathing attack on Sir Keir Starmer's Government, claiming they have "lost touch with ordinary people" and predicting further by-election defeats for the Labour Party.

Speaking on GB News, Baroness Hoey highlighted the Prime Minister's poor polling performance since taking office last year, noting it was "the worst polling records ever in such a short time."

She suggested many voters now regret backing Labour in the 2024 general election, saying the public "has really wakened up" to their mistake.

Baroness Hoey particularly criticised the Prime Minister's approach to European relations, suggesting he is "more in support and wanting to be close to the European Union than actually thinking about British people".

She reminded viewers of Starmer's background as "a Remainer, a Europhile, for many, many years" and his role as Labour's shadow Europe minister during the Brexit negotiations.

"He was the person who led as the Labour shadow Europe minister, those awful three years when we had to keep fighting to just get Brexit over the line," Hoey said.

The former MP accused Starmer of abandoning voters in former "red wall" constituencies who supported Brexit, suggesting these voters would turn to Reform UK "at the next opportunity they get."

Baroness Hoey highlighted fishing rights as a particular concern, claiming the Brexit deal "didn't do well enough on fishing" and left coastal communities feeling abandoned.

"Fishing is not just about the fishermen and women who go out on fishing boats, it's about the whole way that that then leads to lots of other jobs and the whole communities of those coastal towns," she explained.

She suggested these communities had previously held hope that fishing rights could be renegotiated after five years, allowing Britain to "cooperate and decide how much we're going to allow Europe."

Baroness Hoey was particularly critical of the Prime Minister's relationship with French President Emmanuel Macron, describing Starmer's approach as "cozying up" while getting "absolutely nothing" in return.

"What has been so really despicable of the Prime Minister was his cozying up to Macron and has got absolutely nothing," she said.

Baroness Hoey concluded her critique with a stark prediction about the Labour Government's future electoral prospects.

"Hopefully, by the time we get to that next stage, he will have seen that his policies are not acceptable amongst the British public, certainly not in Labour areas," she told GB News.

The former Labour MP forecasted significant political upheaval ahead, stating: "We'll see a lot more by elections, a lot more wins for non-Labour Party politicians."

She went further by suggesting these losses would eventually lead to the Government's downfall, predicting "a general election that will turf this government out."
