Corbyn was suspended from the parliamentary party over his response to EHRC's damning report on anti-semitism in 2020 and now sits as an independent MP

Former Labour MP Luciana Berger has demanded Jeremy Corbyn quit politics immediately, describing him as "disgraceful".

During her time in the Labour Party, Berger was forced to have a bodyguard as a result of growing antisemitism within the party.

Corbyn was suspended from the parliamentary party over his response to EHRC's damning report on antisemitism in 2020 and now sits as an independent MP.

When asked whether Corbyn will run at the Mayoral election, Berger said: 'I've listened very closely to what Sir Ker StarmEr has said and the leadership of the party, and he has made it very clear that there is no future - zero future - for Jeremy Corbyn in the Labour party, and he will not be running as a Labour card candidate."

Presenter Camilla Tominey pressed her on whether or not there "should be a political future for Jeremy Corbyn at all", to which Berger responded: "Let's be very clear, he's not going to be running as a Labour candidate."

But she added: "There is nothing to stop anyone from running."

Tominey pressed her further, asking: "But morally, should he?"

Berger responded: "Of course he shouldn't! But let's be very clear, he's not going to be running on the Labour ticket. If he runs as a candidate he's going to be running as an independent, so he'd be running against the Labour Party, and let's be very clear, he will not be allowed to run as a Labour parliamentary candidate - or any other type of labour candidate at the next general election or any future council elections."

Berger said "of course" Corbyn shouldn't run, adding: "He hasn't either denied or confirmed that he will be running."

Tominey asked: "Should have just stepped down from politics altogether with the findings of that report?"

Berger responded: "Absolutely. I'm on record as saying how disgraceful it was."

In February, Starmer confirmed that Corbyn will "categorically" not stand as a Labour Party candidate at the next general election, saying he "betrayed" the values of the British people.

He said: "Let me be very clear about that: Jeremy Corbyn will not stand for Labour at the next general election, as a Labour Party candidate.

"What I said about the party changing, I meant, and we are not going back, and that is why Jeremy Corbyn will not stand as a Labour candidate at the next general election."
