New data has revealed which areas are most likely to see drivers encounter a mobile speed camera, with experts urging motorists to stick to road rules.
Analysis of more than 11,000 mobile speed camera zones has shown that Derbyshire has a total of 200 sites, the most of any county in the UK.
Mobile speed cameras can often catch drivers off guard when they're breaking the speed limit since they are not signposted.
These mobile vans often appear at lay-bys, bridges, and even village entrances to see if drivers are travelling above the limit in areas where they expect to be spotted less frequently.

The top 10 list features many rural areas, as well as long A-roads and fast B-roads, prompting police forces to use the mobile cameras to crack down on rulebreakers.
The data, from OOONO, found that Lancashire, Wiltshire and Essex all had more than 150 mobile speed camera sites, while the top 10 counties had more than 110 sites.
Sean Morris, UK COO of the company, clarified that the mobile speed cameras are not placed in areas at random, but in a strategic manner.
Police forces will select sites where accidents are seen more frequently, or stretches of road where "extra care and attention" is needed.

Mr Morris emphasised that police forces won't constantly sit at one site, but will often publish which areas they will operate in, to pre-warn motorists.
Not only will this reduce the level of speeding from drivers, but it will also boost safety for all road users in the area.
"With almost as many regular zones across the UK as there are fixed camera locations, the scale of enforcement coverage is far greater than many drivers realise," the expert said.
Police forces will often announce which areas they are targeting on social media over the weekend to prepare drivers not to speed at these sites.

Recently released data from Gloucestershire Police shows that in July and August 2025, 149 speed offences were detected on Bath Road, Eastington.
This was the highest total of the five sites monitored by the force, with officers also detecting six seat belt offences and one "other offence".
Motorists are also able to contact the police about areas that may be of particular concern, which are often referred to as "community concern sites".
Gloucestershire Police highlighted that the presence of a speed camera would prompt drivers to slash their speeds and change their behaviour.
