Friday marks one year since Russia's invasion of Ukraine

Vladimir Putin will not stop at Ukraine if he is allowed to take any part of that country’s territory, Polish Foreign Minister Paweł Jabłoński told GB News this morning.

The senior minister warned Russia will be "coming for more" if Putin is able to make a success out of the invasion.

And he warned other dictators around the world were watching to see how Europe responded on Ukraine.

He said: “If we allow Russia to win this war, and by winning I mean if Russia is able to grab any portion of Ukrainian territory, be it Crimea or Eastern Ukraine, Russia will attack again.

"This will be the only logical conclusion for Putin, that if he will be able to reap the fruits of his aggression, he will certainly continue in this policy.”

Asked if Poland, which borders Ukraine in the West, fears Putin’s troops attacking their country specifically, Jabłoński added: “This is absolutely what he is going to do.

“He will not stop himself. If he is successful in any way against Ukraine, he will be coming for more, and he will be attacking other countries. Baltic states, Poland, Moldova, countries in Central Asia as well. He is very open about it.

"His cronies around his political circles are very clear what they want to do.”

Today marks one year since Russia’s full scale invasion of Ukraine, and its far reaching consequences across the world.

The Polish Foreign Minister said that “if we want to be safe in Europe”, Russia must leave Ukraine.

“If we want to be safe in Europe, there is one single solution, difficult to achieve obviously, but there is no alternative.

"Russia must be defeated, Russia must be kicked out of Ukraine, because otherwise it will continue its attacks, it will attack other countries, it will continue to be a persistent threat for global stability.”

Poland, which faced invasion in 1939 from both the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany, saw much of its territory annexed by the Soviet Union following the war, and what was left became a Soviet Satellite State until 1989.

Jabłoński described the expansionist behaviour of Putin’s Russia this century as ‘Nazi-lite’, in contrast to Putin’s own false description of his war of aggression as an exercise in ‘denazification.’

By contrast, Jabłoński says Russia is pursuing its war “based on purely genocidal tendencies”, to eradicate Ukrainian identity.

“They are calling as they name it ‘denazification’ of several states. They are calling everyone Nazis," he said.

"They are accusing everyone of being Nazi when in fact this is the only Nazi, or Nazi-lite country today - Russia.

"The policies that they are inflicting; the war which is based on purely genocidal tendencies, they want to eradicate Ukrainian identity, Ukrainian independence, eliminate Ukraine as a separate nation.

"They must be stopped because otherwise they will certainly come for more.”

The Polish Foreign Minister also gave a warning with regards to what may happen in the rest of the world if Putin is allowed to win. That other dictators would “follow his lead”, and more invasions would take place.

“If we are talking about what is the most important result of this last year, one most important result is that we were able to stop it. If we would not be able to stop it, there would be much more dictators globally that would follow his lead.”
