The Labour MP looked surprised as the GB News Political Editor gave her a gift

A patriotic moment took place on GB News today when Political Editor Christopher Hope handed a Union flag to Labour MP Rosie Wrighting, urging her to “fly it proudly.”

The sweet exchange came at the Labour Party Conference, that opened its doors today.

GB News host Camilla Tominey asked Christopher why he had the flags, and he explained: "Well, I bought a present here for Rosie Wrighting and that’s for you.”

He handed the MP the flag and went on: “The Prime Minister also talked about progressive patriotism. Here at GB News we’re giving out flags all week to anyone who wants one.

"Come to our stand, we’ll give you a flag and you can wave it around. We love the flag at GB News, as Brits do.”

Camilla responded: “I mean, do we love the flag? Why has the flag been so sullied in recent times?”

Rosie Wrighting said:“There’s nothing wrong with flying the flag in Britain and in England, is there? I’m incredibly proud of our flag.

"I’m incredibly proud to be British, and that’s partly one of the reasons I wanted to run to be a Member of Parliament.

"I will always be proud of our country and what we’ve achieved throughout history. But what I think it means to be British is to be a tolerant, inclusive country and that flag symbolises that.

"It does, and I’m proud to hold it.”

LATEST POLITICAL DEVELOPMENTS:

The Labour Party Conference comes at a crucial time for the Prime Minister, who is currently lagging in the polls.

A new YouGov poll suggests Nigel Farage’s Reform UK could secure 311 MPs if a general election were held today just 15 short of the 326 needed to govern alone.

The multi-level regression and post-stratification survey questioned more than 11,000 people, projecting how constituencies across Britain would vote.

The results show a dramatic collapse in Labour support, which has fallen 14 percentage points nationally, while the Conservatives have also dropped seven points across the country.

The analysis reveals Labour has plunged by 20 percentage points in constituencies where Reform UK finished second at the last election, 18 points in Green-held runner-up seats, and 16 points in former Conservative strongholds.

If this trend holds, Labour’s parliamentary representation could collapse from 411 MPs to just 144, according to YouGov projections.

The Conservatives are facing an equally grim picture, potentially holding only 45 seats, their worst electoral performance since the party was founded in the 1670s.
