Make no mistake: this isn't about Invictus, writes the US columnist

If there's one thing that should make every hardworking British taxpayer's blood boil, it's the idea that Meghan Markle might waltz back onto your soil for some Invictus "one-year countdown" jamboree in Birmingham this July, but only if we, the public, cough up for her fortress-level, armed-police protection.

Let that sink in. After everything, the Duchess of Delusion is reportedly holding her Hollywood return hostage to a taxpayer-funded security upgrade.

With her reputation in Britain, it seems her presence is hardly desired. Slam the door, bolt it, and throw away the key.

Make no mistake: this isn't about Invictus — a laudable cause that honours wounded heroes and deserves every ounce of support. This is about one couple's staggering entitlement.

Reports indicate — Meghan won't set foot in the UK without the full royal red-carpet treatment: multi-floor hotel lockdowns, bulletproof glass, 24/7 armed escorts, the works.

Sources close to the pair have made it plain: security is the deciding factor in her possible appearance at the July 2026 event hyping the 2027 Birmingham Games.

Prince Harry's fresh Ravec review — triggered after his 2025 court humiliation — is ongoing, with whispers of "optimism" from his camp. But let's be brutally honest: in a Britain battered by knife crime, terror threats, and stretched-thin police forces, diverting precious resources to babysit this pair would be nothing short of a national disgrace.

The British public has spoken — loudly, repeatedly, and without ambiguity. YouGov trackers in 2025 buried Meghan in the basement: favourability scraping the bottom at 20-21 per cent positive across multiple polls (May, August, October), with negatives cemented in the mid-60s — some of the worst numbers ever recorded for her since tracking began. That's not a blip; that's outright rejection. Prince Harry fares little better, routinely trailing in the 30 per cent range, positive, while the country seethes.

And the mob has voted too: crowd-sourced Ranker crowned Meghan the most disliked celebrity of 2025 — holding or sharing the top spot for much of the year, often ahead of far more notorious figures, with Harry not far behind in the top tier. Their brand? Toxic. Fused into one giant, grievance-mongering spectacle that many Britons rightfully see as a calculated insult to the nation.

That venom didn't appear out of thin air. It flows from what vast numbers of ordinary people regard as betrayal and disrespect of the late, beloved Queen Elizabeth II — an international treasure.

The 2021 Oprah circus? A global hit-job full of explosive "concerns" about skin colour that smeared the entire institution, even after Harry backtracked to say it wasn't the Queen or Philip.

Then came the Netflix mockumentary in 2022 — released just months after Her Majesty's death — where Meghan delivered that cringeworthy, pantomime curtsy reenactment, dripping with mockery.

Widely slammed as juvenile, disrespectful, and downright cruel, it left viewers — and even Harry himself in the footage, looking mortified — in no doubt about the tone.

These weren't quiet family chats. They were slick, monetised productions that many see as having ridiculed the Queen at her most vulnerable moment, turning her lifetime of selfless duty into cheap entertainment fodder.

The gall is breathtaking. The Queen welcomed Meghan with open arms — titles, status, the lot. In return? A relentless campaign of ingratitude and spite.

Harry chose to quit in 2020, fleeing to his California dream, building a fortune on exactly that separation. Through his autobiography, Spare, endless tell-alls, and public rants, he's painted Britain and its institutions as racist, hostile, and backwards.

Fine — that's his prerogative. But having voluntarily ditched royal duties, residence, and service, he has zero moral claim to demand special taxpayer privileges now. None.

So why on earth should cash-strapped Britons — already crushed by bills, failing services, and real dangers on your streets — be forced to subsidise enhanced protection for visits that apparently depend on Meghan's whims?

If they need the full VIP lockdown treatment beyond what visiting dignitaries get, they can bloody well pay for it privately — like every other mega-rich celeb does.

Invictus is sacred; Harry can attend under standard protocols with proper notice. What is utterly indefensible is bending over backwards for Meghan — a woman whose conduct is so widely viewed as contemptuous toward the late Queen and the country she served with unmatched grace.

Britain has real priorities that need attention: securing borders, protecting citizens, keeping the light and heating on — not grovelling to a couple of deluded narcissists who turned their backs on Britain, trashed it for profit, and now want Britons to foot the bill for their comeback tour.

Polling, rankings, and the raw fury online all scream the same truth: Meghan Markle is emphatically not welcome on these terms. Harry abandoned the public purse by choice — he gets no second helpings.

If the Sussexes fancy importing their Montecito circus back to British soil, they're free to try — entirely on their own dime, their own risk, their own security.

The UK owes them precisely nothing. Least of all armed officers paid for by the very taxpayers they've spent years lecturing, lampooning, and cashing in on. The door should remain shut. Firmly. Forever.
