GB News Editorial Director Michael Booker says The People's Channel fights for the British public each day

Ever bitten your lip so hard you almost made it bleed? Desperate to speak up but worried about the consequences?

Sometimes it’s too hard to say what you really think. Sometimes that’s simply because there’s no platform left where you feel safe to have your say.

For too long people like us have had to bite that bottom lip hard and stay silent for fear of being shouted down or cancelled from so-called polite society.

Throughout history good has had to rise to defeat evil. Tyrants have taken control of countries and even entire continents, but thank God, good people have always stood up to defeat them.

In the last two decades a different, more pernicious tyranny has gripped not just one country or even one continent, it gripped the entire world.

That tyranny manifested itself in censure, cancellation and an increasingly rigid form of political correctness that entirely chilled free speech and discussion.

Diversity of thought was frowned upon – the cry appeared to go up: ‘There’s only one way of thinking!’ Society suffered as a result. The future looked distinctly bleak.

But that’s exactly why we built GB News.

We knew there were people out there – the silenced majority - concerned about what was happening in Britain and beyond and wanted to talk openly and honestly about it.

We constructed a place – a community – where people could come together and discuss fearlessly but fairly the problems we face and throw around the ideas and solutions to fix them.

We also wanted to give you the news without the condescension of the other channels and media organisations, who had been captured and held hostage by this tyranny.

For more than four hard years GB News has led the fightback across all our platforms.

We’ve fought for you each day on the issues that matter to you and your families.

It’s not been easy. Often, an inch of common sense gained in one area one day has been lost somewhere else the next. Hell, it’s only in the past two months that we’ve managed to get our political class to say out loud that there’s nothing wrong with flying our national flags with pride wherever and whenever we want!

The battle will never be over, and we will keep fighting for every inch of ground we’ve gained while we get footholds elsewhere. We won’t let things go backwards. You have our word.

Admittedly, it’s hard not to despair about recent events.

The horrific assassination of Charlie Kirk on Wednesday night at Utah Valley University illustrates the extreme reaction that can result when people freely speak their mind.

Belief in our political classes has sunk to new lows in the past week too. The rot in Westminster circles – allowed to fester for decades – has resulted in Britain shamefully appointing, then removing, an ambassador to the US despite being sacked from public office twice before.

The fact we’ve allowed our political ‘betters’ to play a system that allows them more comebacks than Frank Sinatra when in the real world you or I would be finished for good after one error is shame enough.

If you don’t believe me, just look at our former Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner.

Just over a week after stepping down over her murky tax affairs they’re ALREADY talking about when it will be ok for her to make her comeback. And they still wonder why you and I are angry! One rule for them…

It’s been a bad week in the media too. Working class hero Tom Skinner – whose greatest sins appear to be that he’s patriotic and has a regional accent – has been hounded by the left-wing media after being signed up for Strictly Come Dancing.

Meanwhile Gary Lineker was named Best TV Presenter at the National TV awards and given a hero’s welcome...

But as I’ve said all is NOT lost. There’s a lot we need to fix in this country. But we will get there.

We will only achieve positive change if we are allowed to speak our minds, respectfully and with honour.

There’s a lot to talk about, bite your lip no more. You DO have a place to have to your say. Speak up and be heard on GB News.
