It’s thanks to Trump that all the living hostages have now been released after 737 days in captivity, writes columnist Carole Malone

“Trump, Trump, Trump” his name echoed around Israel’s Parliament, the Knesset, chanted by ecstatic and grateful politicians who were there to celebrate the man who had brought them – and the world – what they had all prayed for: Peace!

And as The Dealmaker, President Donal J. Trump, walked into the chamber every man and woman rose to their feet and cheering and shouting his name.

Some wore red MAGA style baseball caps emblazoned with “Trump the Peace President.” Others wore blue ones with “Make Israel Great Again.”

Trump mania had taken hold of the Knesset, and it was exhilarating. Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu sung his praises saying: “No American president has ever done more for Israel.”

Speaker of the house, Amir Ohana, said: “What the world needs now is more leaders that are resolute and strong, brave and bold. The world needs more Donald Trumps.”And all the while they were stamping their feet and chanting his name, The Donald just sat there, with a hint of a smile across his Perma tanned face and luxuriated in the adoration like a big old Cheshire cat.

As well he should - because he damn well deserves the adoration and the praise. He deserves every accolade that is coming his way because this peace deal simply would never have happened without him.

It was his juggernaut diplomacy that brought it to fruition. It was his grit, his determination and his bloody mindedness that brought all parties to the negotiating table and subsequently to heel.

No other world leader has got close to what Trump has achieved - but he didn’t just get close, he made the peace deal happen.

Who cares what he did to do that, what threats he made, what incentives he dangled – who the Hell cares! The fact is he did what no other world leader has got close to in years. And not just world leaders. There were all the self-appointed Middle East experts, the professional diplomats, the UN. None of them did anything lasting or useful. It was Donald J. Trump who pulled it off.

The world said Hamas would never surrender – but in effect that’s exactly what it’s done because Trump made sure their supporters in the Middle East were no longer supporting them.

Love him or hate him Trump is a force of nature the world now has no choice but to reckon with. And so, what if he milks his moment? So, what if he takes credit? So, what if Israeli politicians – and those around the world - stroke his ego? And so what if at some point he taunts those idiots on the Nobel Peace Prize committee who denied him the honour he so richly deserves. So what if he screams at them: “It should have been me.”

Because yes, it damn well should have been him. In fact, if this peace deal holds one Nobel Peace Prize won’t be enough.

But no, the scaredy cat committee awarded it just last Friday to an Argentinian politician, Maria Corina Machado, who I’m sure is a wonderful woman. But few have ever heard of her and last time I looked she hadn’t brokered an historic peace between Gaza and Israel. Nor has she hasn’t help stop seven other conflicts around the world that could have spiralled into war. Donald Trump has. Yet they ignored him.

These people are fools. They gave Barrack Obama the Peace Prize who’d been president for less than two weeks when he was nominated (and had done absolutely nothing apart from being the first black president) and he was awarded it after just eight and a half months in office when he’d still achieved nothing.

But they didn’t give it to the one man who may have just helped to save the world and because of it they have lost all credibility. Their judgement can no longer be trusted.

It’s thanks to Trump that all the living hostages have now been released after 737 days in captivity in the underground tunnels of Gaza. Many are already back in Israel and in the arms of their family who, like them, have been through two years of Hell.

Trump did that. And so, who can blame him if he chooses to praise himself because some of the small, minded bigots who rule the world are being too slow to. And Trump did all this it all by maintaining his steadfast support for Israel while bringing peace to Gaza.

When in recent days Netanyahu, had railed at some of the conditions in Trump’s 20-point peace plan Trump told him: “Bibi stop being so f***ing negative. You can’t fight the whole world.”

He listened. As did the Palestinians. And now the deal has been signed.

And wouldn’t you just know it – Keir Starmer who for weeks has hidden his head in the sand while these negotiations have been going on and has done nothing to secure this deal just tweeted out “We must now secure a lasting peace.”

This from our useless Prime Minister who has done sod all to achieve or secure any kind of peace.

Then dopey Bridget Phillipson pipes up at the weekend: “The UK played a key role behind the scenes ins securing a peace deal.”

Oh no it didn’t you silly woman, a fact that was quickly pointed out by the US ambassador to Israel, Mick Huckabee, who responded: "I can assure you she’s delusional. She can thank President Trump any time just to put the record straight."

And isn’t that typical of our Prime Minister? This man, who couldn’t negotiate his way out of a paper bag, hides and does nothing when the hard work is happening.

Then when another leader does what he couldn’t he tries to claim some of the credit.

That’s how pathetic this Labour Government is. It’s beyond embarrassing. And Starmer will try to keep up the pretence at the Gaza peace summit in Egypt this week where he’ll talk grandly about helping to rebuild the country. Might be hard because he’s failed miserably at rebuilding Britain.

As for the Trump haters? Even now they refuse to give him credit for what he’s done because they’re too small minded, too blinkered, too stupid, too childish to admit that a man they don’t like didn’t just do something good - he did something bloody brilliant that just made history!
