Emergency services have struggled to put out the fires amid fierce winds and drought

Turkey is battling multiple fire emergencies as a major wildfire continues to rage through Antalya's tourist districts, prompting mass evacuations from hotels in the popular holiday destination.

The blaze, which ignited on Saturday evening in the Kundu district, has spread rapidly through forested areas near Belek, threatening resort properties along the coast.

Emergency services have deployed an extensive firefighting operation involving more than 800 personnel, supported by 14 aircraft and 20 helicopters.

Strong winds have hampered containment efforts, pushing the flames into neighbouring provinces of Mugla and Aydin, whilst forcing authorities to close a major coastal road.

Dramatic footage captured flames consuming what appeared to be a riverside resort in Belek, with burning trees visible as horrified residents documented the unfolding disaster.

The inferno originated in Kundu's forested zones where numerous tourist accommodations are situated, according to Turkish media outlets.

Authorities ordered evacuations from central Antalya and the Aksu district as flames advanced towards residential areas.

Emergency crews have struggled against powerful winds that continue to drive the fire's expansion across multiple provinces.

The current crisis follows devastating blazes that claimed 12 lives merely two months ago, when Turkey mobilised 25,000 people in response efforts.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan described the situation as "a truly great disaster" during the summer's earlier fire outbreak.

Since late June, the drought-stricken nation has confronted extensive forest fire incidents, with emergency teams tackling over 600 blazes driven by fierce winds.

The aftermath revealed devastating scenes of charred vehicles and structures, whilst exhausted firefighters persevered in their battle against the flames.

Visual evidence from previous incidents displayed towering smoke plumes and flames near Antalya's high-rise buildings, a region that attracts both domestic and international holidaymakers throughout summer.

Adding to Turkey's current fire crisis, a separate blaze erupted at an industrial facility in Adana earlier today.

The incident occurred at a factory where flames originated in an area used for storing waste materials.

Dense black smoke has enveloped the surrounding area, with the plume visible from numerous locations throughout Adana's city centre.

Fire crews from Adana Metropolitan Municipality are currently working to suppress the industrial blaze.

The cause of the factory fire remains undetermined.
