Spain horror as body of pensioner found floating off Benidorm beach - Police rule out major theory

The Air Unit of the Benidorm Policia Local spotted her around 320 metres from the coast of Levante beach, near Punta Llisera.

The police notified the city’s Rescue and First Aid Service which operates on the Benidorm’s beaches to go to the area after giving them coordinates.

The crew pulled the body out of the sea and confirmed that it was that of a woman.

“Immediately, we moved our aerial unit with the specific equipment for locating people and we were able to find an inert body 320 metres from the coastline”, the spokesperson for Benidorm Local Police said.

Investigators have preliminarily ruled out that she was a migrant trying to cross over to Spain.

The woman is believed to have been between 60 to 70 years old at the time she died.

Her identity and cause of death are currently unknown.

Drones which discovered the body next to the cable-ski were also sent to see if “if there was any kind of belongings” or any item that would help identify the victim.

However, no further evidence has been discovered so far.

The coroner and the local police are continuing with investigations.

The news comes after a popular British entertainer in Benidorm died last week, aged 80.

Sticky Vicky had a legendary status among Brits holidaying in the Spanish resort for her X-rated stage show.

It ran for more than 30 years, and she performed six shows a night for six days of the week at one stage.

The performer's daughter announced she had died early on Friday morning in a post on her official Facebook page.

“I can't believe it, she has gone surrounded by her family, with all our love,” she said.

“I thank God for being able to always be by her side, I am left with a broken heart.”
