The US President revealed just days ago that he has been invited to Beijing by his Chinese counterpart

North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un is set to meet Chinese leader Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Beijing in the coming days.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry has confirmed that the North Korean, Chinese and Russian heads of state will be attending a military parade in the capital city on September 3.

The military parade is part of a wider celebration of "Victory Day" to mark the 80th anniversary of China's victory over Japan and the conclusion of the Second World War.

It is also set to be the North Korean premier's first ever international-level meeting of leaders.

The event will give the Chinese military an opportunity to showcase its latest weapons and technology, such as its anti-drone systems, with the West expected to be keeping a close eye on proceedings.

Just days ago, Mr Trump revealed that President Xi had also invited him for a meeting in China, which could take place "in the not-too-distant future".

No plans are yet in place for a Trump-Xi meeting with just six days remaining until the victory parade - but the end of October or start of November have both been tipped as options.

Mr Trump also revealed last week that he would be open for a fourth meeting with the North Korean leader, seven years on from when the pair first met in Singapore.

Mr Kim's appearance in China will be his first since 2019, when he attended a celebration for the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two east Asian nations.

The majority of Western leaders are not anticipated to attend the parade in Beijing.

Japan had reportedly warned foreign leaders not to make an appearance, alleging that the "Victory Day" events had "anti-Japanese overtones".

Rumours had circulated that South Korean President Lee Jae Myung may attend the celebrations, which would be the first meeting between the North and South Korean leaders since relations were severed in 2019.

However, Mr Lee has not formally accepted the invitation - and it is believed that the South Korean Government is planning to send a lower-ranking politician instead.

The South Korean leader asked Mr Trump on Monday to act as a peacemaker between the two neighbours peninsula during a meeting at the Oval Office.

Mr Lee said: "The only person who can make progress is you Mr President.

"If you become the peacemaker, then I will assist you by being a pacemaker."

The South Korean President has repeatedly said he would like to meet with the North Korean leader and re-establish relations, as well as strengthen his country's relationship with China.

China's Foreign Ministry delivered a press conference on Thursday praising Pyongyang for its "traditional friendship" and said that the two countries will work together in future on "regional peace and stability".

For decades, China has been the recluse nation's largest trade partner and aid provider.

In 2023, around 97 per cent of North Korea's international trade was done with China, while just over 1 per cent was with Vladimir Putin's Russia.

According to South Korean and Western intelligence agencies, the Kim regime supplied Russia with over 10,000 North Korean soldiers to aid their war effort in Ukraine.
