Israel has accused Hamas of a 'blatant violation' of the ceasefire, saying there have been at least three incidents today

The Israel Defence Force has declared it has "begun the renewed enforcement of the ceasefire" agreement after claiming it struck Hamas "in response to the blatant violation" by the terror group.

The force said that the move was "in accordance with the director of the political echelon, and following a series of significant strikes in response to Hamas' violations".

"The IDF has begun the renewed enforcement of the ceasefire, in line with the terms of the agreement. The IDF will continue to uphold the ceasefire and will respond to any violation of it." the force added on X.

The Israeli military official said Hamas has carried out "multiple attacks" against IDF forces beyond the "yellow line".

The Israeli military official stated: "The attacks included an RPG shot at a military force, and sniper fire against a military force."

It noted that militants in Gaza fired anti-tank missiles and opened fire on Israeli forces operating in Rafah, in what the officials described as "a blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement".

The Israeli military official said: "Air force fighter jets carried out air strikes in the Rafah area to remove the threat after 'terrorists' opened fire."

The official noted that "both of the incidents happened in an Israeli-controlled area".

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel will retaliate forcefully against Hamas attacks on its forces with the IDF posting on X: "In response to the blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement earlier today, the IDF has begun a series of strikes against Hamas terror targets in the southern Gaza".

Hamas has accused Israel of violating the ceasefire, with its official Izzat Al Risheq saying: "Hamas is committed to the ceasefire agreement."

Israeli media Channel 12 reports that Israel is attacking Gaza, but the Israeli military has not confirmed the reports.

Hamas' armed wing stated that it is committed to all that has been agreed upon in the ceasefire and is unaware of any incidents or clashes within Rafah, noting that it falls under Israeli control, and communication with all groups has been cut there since March.

The reported exchange of strikes is the biggest challenge to the ceasefire brokered by President Donald Trump.

The US State Department earlier today warned Hamas is planning an "imminent" attack on Gaza civilians, which would violate the ceasefire agreement.

It said: "This planned attack against Palestinian civilians would constitute a direct and grave violation of the ceasefire agreement and undermine the significant progress achieved through mediation efforts. The guarantors demand Hamas uphold its obligations under the ceasefire terms."

It said that if Hamas goes ahead with its attacks, "measures will be taken to protect the people of Gaza and preserve the integrity of the ceasefire".

The US President has previously warned Hamas against the killings of civilians.

He wrote in a post on his Truth Social: "If Hamas continues to kill people in Gaza, which was not the deal, we will have no choice but to go in and kill them."

He later clarified that this would not involve sending US troops into Gaza.

The terror group denied the claims from the US, accusing Israeli authorities of forming, arming and funding "criminal gangs" that carried out murders, kidnappings and aided looting.

It said police forces in Gaza were performing their duty, pursuing the gangs and holding them to account.

Hamas said: "The movement calls on the US administration to stop repeating the occupation's misleading narrative."

Under the 20-point ceasefire, Hamas is supposed to relinquish its weapons so that it no longer poses a threat to Israel.

It has not done so yet, as pressure mounts from the US for the terror group to disarm.
