President Donald Trump has been hailed as a "peacemaker" by a senior diplomat for overseeing the initial agreement between two historical rivals.
The Azerbaijan Ambassador to the UK Elin Suleymanov said the US President "doesn't pursue ideological narrative" as he welcomed talks between Baku and neighbouring Armenia.
Earlier this week, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev met with Mr Trump at the White House to put their initials to the treaty.

As part of the deal, the two countries agreed to each other's territorial integrity and formally put an end to over 30 years of conflict.
Now, Mr Suleymanov, who worked as the Ambassador for Azerbaijan in Washington from 2011 to 2021, welcomed the deal, telling GB News it was a "historic moment and a change of paradigm."
Speaking to GB News from Baku, he said: "In practical terms, this solidifies and demonstrates a penultimate step to ending the conflict and leaving the legacy of the conflict behind us. This a historic moment for our region.
"Of course, the agreement is yet to be signed. It was only initialed, but the step which was made is clearly a step forward from three decades of conflict and putting that legacy of post-Soviet grinding negativity behind us."

While previous White House administrations, ones led by both Democrats and Republicans, had attempted to broker a deal between the two countries, this is the first time an agreement of peace has been made between the two South Caucasus nations.
The deal will relinquish all claims to each other's territory, refrain from using force against one another and pledge to respect international law.
Mr Suleymanov, who was at the talks during the George W Bush and Barack Obama administrations, told GB News that Mr Trump has been able to get the deal because of a "genuine effort" from his team.
He said: "I think the key factor is, a very simple reality that Azerbaijan has restored its territorial integrity in 2020 and has returned its territories which were under occupation.
"So the core sticking point, the main reason for the problem and for the conflict, has been removed."

As for President Trump's contribution, Mr Suleymanov said the deal is only possible under his administration "because he doesn't pursue ideological narratives.
"What seems to me is Trump is genuinely trying to bring conflicts to the end. He is a peacemaker and deal maker, in essence, and that's very different from what the others wanted.
"Every effort which been made was based very much on ideological perceptions on narratives which did not really put the end of the conflict between Armenia Azerbaijan in at the center of attention.
"From what I've seen, the deal follows a pattern which has been pursued by Trump and his team even from the first administration."
However, Mr Suleymanov was quick to point out Trump could be motivated by the preservation of self interest for America by overseeing these deals.
He said: "The United States, benefits from peace, not a particular administration, not a particular special interest groups which dominated the previous discussions, but the United States as a nation, as a major player, actually benefits from peace.
"Why not? I mean, that brings a positive energy. It builds partnerships based on on peaceful relationship.
"It doesn't pursue a policy promoted by particular groups, but actually, this is a policy which serves American interests as a whole.
"I think that's that's not just because of Armenia and Azerbaijan. We're not living in a completely altruistic world here, but the reality is that that's where the convergence of interests are there."
When asked about Trump specifically, Mr Suleymanov told GB News: "He understands what serves American interests quite clearly, and then he understands the convergence of interest. I think that's where we have a combination of factors which made it possible."
The deal was also welcomed by Foreign Secretary David Lammy, who congratulated the two countries on the "bold steps taken in Washington towards peace", who praised the Potus's role in the development.
Mr Suleymanov was also quick to praise the support the deal had from Mr Lammy, saying: "He did welcome the peace deal initiation. He was very prominent about this. He spoke to Vice President JD Vance about this."
