Trump has hinted at joining Israel's attacks

President Trump delivered a cryptic response today when asked whether the United States will join Israeli strikes on Iran.

Speaking outside the White House, Trump said: “I may do it, I may not do it. I mean, nobody knows what I’m going to do.”

The President revealed he has held talks with Vladimir Putin, who he says offered to mediate between the US and Iran.

Trump urged Iran to surrender, saying if they fail do so “we will blow up their facilities. There are many possibilities. Nothing is won yet, but we’ve come a long way”.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

Calling Iran a “hostile state seeking nuclear weapons”, he said the country had threatened the US for years.

In a televised statement this morning, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned America of “irreparable harm” should it assist Israel’s war efforts.

The two countries have long feared Iran’s nuclear prospects and America may target Fordo, where a uranium enrichment site sits deep underground.

Only the Americans have the capability to destroy it but the President’s advisers are said to be divided on how to proceed.

On Friday, Israel hit multiple sites including a nuclear facility and residential areas in Tehran.

A number of senior commanders of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were struck down along with nuclear scientists and civilians.

Iran retaliated by launching drone and a ballistic missile at military centres and airbases in Israel.

What has followed has been a steady follow of strikes from both sides with oil infrastructure often the target. Israel said at least 20 people were killed in multiple strikes, leading into Monday.

Iran’s health ministry said 224 people had been killed and 1,277 injured as of Sunday evening.

On Tuesday, Tehran’s streets were gridlocked as many tried to flee the city, which has a population of 10 million people.

Trump said on Truth Social, his social media platform, he views Khamenei as an “easy target”, but they are not going to “take him out” for now.
