The defamation case from the Macrons said Owens has been 'invasive' and 'dehumanising'

French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte have filed a defamation lawsuit against Candace Owens over the influencer's false accusation that the French First Lady was born a man.

The defamation complaint accuses Owens of pushing "demonstrably false" claims across her platforms.

These include an eight-part podcast and Owens' social media, during the "relentless and unjustified smear campaign".

The Macrons have been subjected to a "campaign of global humiliation, turning their lives into fodder for profit-driven lies," the complaint reads.

It also stated: "Owens has dissected their appearance, their marriage, their friends, their family, and their personal history - twisting it all into a grotesque narrative designed to inflame and degrade.

"The result is relentless bullying on a worldwide scale. Every time the Macrons leave their home, they do so knowing that countless people have heard, and many believe, these vile fabrications.

"It is invasive, dehumanising, and deeply unjust."

The complaint seeks damages from Owens and her companies, which include punitive damages.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

Brigitte Macron was previously awarded £6,750 in damages last year, after two other influencers accused her of being transgender.

In that case, Amandine Roy and Natacha Rey had to pay damages to Brigitte and her brother Jean-Michel Trogneux.

The women made claims that the French First Lady never existed and swapped genders with her brother, and claimed that identity.

Part of the Macron's 219-page complaint connects Owen's lengthy history of conspiracy theories, including antisemitic tropes and attempts to minimise the Holocaust.

In the Macrons case, the French President and his wife stated: "Owens published the series and related X posts with reckless disregard for the truth.

"Owens was repeatedly presented with credible, verifiable evidence disproving her claims - including documentation, public records, and direct outreach from the Macrons.

"Instead of correcting the record, she doubled down. Owens, fully aware of the truth, has not only declined to retract her statements but has actively expanded on them."

The complaint also alleged that Owens "built a brand on provocation, not truth".
