The proposal would be binding for a minimum of 10 years

Britain will offer Ukraine Nato-style security guarantees if a peace deal is reached.

A document revealing the security guarantees was presented to President Volodymyr Zelensky by US Army Secretary Dan Driscoll alongside a 28-point peace deal.

The peace deal includes the phrase “Ukraine will receive reliable security guarantees”, which are expanded upon in the draft agreement.

The document states that any “significant, deliberate, and sustained armed attack” by Russia on Ukraine “shall be regarded as an attack threatening the peace and security of the transatlantic community”, Axios reported.

This marks the first time Trump has included European security guarantees in a proposed peace deal.

The document had marked places to sign for Nato, Ukraine, the US, the European Union, and Russia.

The proposal would mean Nato members, including Britain, Germany, and France, would pledge to work with the US in military action for a minimum of 10 years.

White House officials said that Russia was briefed on the proposal, but it’s not clear if President Vladimir Putin’s signature would be required.

As stated in the document, measures Britain may have to provide include “armed force, intelligence and logistical assistance, economic and diplomatic actions, and other steps judged appropriate”.

A senior White House official and another source confirmed to Axios the document’s legitimacy, but noted that it needs to be discussed with European partners and is subject to change.

President Trump’s draft 28-point peace plan would require Ukraine to slash the size of their military down to 600,000 and give up long-range missiles.

Ukraine would also hand over the entire Donbas region and Crimea.

Most European countries only learned of the peace plan after it was reported by the press.

In a joint call with Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Mr Zelensky discussed the peace plans..

Mr Zelensky said: “We discussed the plan for peace for Ukraine and all of Europe”

“We value the efforts of the United States, President Trump, and his team aimed at ending this war.

“We are working on the document prepared by the American side. This must be a plan that ensures a real and dignified peace.”

Earlier this week, at least 26 Ukrainians were killed in a Russian strike on the city of Ternopil.

Russian casualties in the war are estimated to be over one million.

Ukraine’s total casualties are estimated to be near 400 thousand.
