Giuffre's family also warned that 'Ghislaine Maxwell was vicious and could often be more cruel' than Jeffrey Epstein

The family of Virginia Giuffre have revealed that she had fought for the release of the Epstein files up until her suicide earlier this year.

Prince Andrew accuser Giuffre had worked as a locker room attendant at Trump's Mar-a-Lago property in 2000, aged just 16.

She died by suicide in April at her farm in Western Australia.

And amid massive public pressure for the Trump administration to release documents detailing the horrific crimes carried out by Epstein and his partner Ghislaine Maxwell, Giuffre has returned to the headlines.

Asked on Tuesday whether she was among the names of people that Epstein had abused from Trump's Florida resort, the President said: "I think that was one of the people. He stole her."

Giuffre's sister-in-law, Amanda Roberts, has now revealed how she fought for the files to see the light of day.

"She had a little bit of hope in her because it was said that the files were going to be released," Roberts said.

"She was fighting for that to happen right up until the very end... She wanted the public to know the crimes that they had committed."

The White House has said that Trump had banished Epstein from his Mar-a-Lago property for "being a creep" towards female employees.

Epstein died in August 2019 in what was ruled as suicide at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York City as he was awaiting trial for historic sex trafficking charges.

Giuffre's older brother, Sky Roberts, has said that the family was "shocked" by Trump's use of the word "stolen" when talking about their sibling.

He said: "She's not an object, she's a person... She's a mom. She's a sister. And she was recruited by Maxwell. She wasn't stolen".

British socialite Maxwell was jailed for 20 years in June 2022 for conspiring with Epstein to sexually abuse children - but rumours have been circling that Trump may issue a pardon after federal prosecutors held meetings with her.

A senior White House official said on Wednesday that "no leniency is being given or discussed" for Maxwell.

Giuffre's family members published a statement urging the President to avoid doing so.

In the family's statement, they said: "Virginia always said that Ghislaine Maxwell was vicious and could often be more cruel than Epstein.

"She must remain in prison - anything less would go down in history as being one of the highest travesties of justice."

They also revealed that after assisting federal prosecutors, Giuffre had endured "death threats, threats against the lives of her children and family, financial ruin, and her physical and mental well-being were destroyed".

Trump said last week that he had not thought about issuing a pardon for Maxwell, but that he was "allowed to do it".

Sky Roberts said that a pardon for Epstein's long-term partner would "unwind everything that my sister and all the survivors fought for".

Maxwell's lawyers have stated that their client would be willing to testify to Congress - on the condition that she is shielded from any future prosecution.
