John Bolton served under President Donald Trump in his first term

Former National Security Advisor John Bolton's home and office have been raided by Federal Agents.

The search is understood to have focused on potential classified documents which agents believe Mr Bolton may still possess.


Mr Bolton served as President Donald Trump's national security advisor from 2018 to 2019 and is not in custody or under arrest.

FBI agents raided the home in Bethesda, Maryland and have also raided Mr Bolton's office.

The investigation is understood to have been ordered by the FBI Director Kash Patel, who said in a cryptic post on X shortly after the raid: "NO ONE is above the law... @FBI agents on mission".

FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino shared the post and wrote: "Public corruption will not be tolerated."

Attorney General Pam Bondi also stated: "America's safety isn't negotiable. Justice will be pursued. Always."

Mr Bolton has previously been accused of including classified information in his book "The Room Where It Happened".

Mr Trump tried to deny its publication over its inclusion of national secrets, saying Mr Bolton broke an NDA; however, he was unsuccessful.

He has become a critic of the President, calling him unfit to serve.

President Trump previously stripped Mr Bolton of protective Secret Service detail that had been assigned after the US Justice Department said Iran had threatened his life.

People have been seen standing outside of Mr Bolton's house, with one individual wearing a shirt reading "Trump is a national disgrace".

Mr Bolton's wife, Gretchen Smith Bolton, has been pictured outside of their house in Maryland.

Multiple FBI agents have been seen entering and exiting the property.

They have been seen removing boxes from the home, with Mr Bolton seen in the lobby.

The former Trump adviser has been at odds with the President, consistently criticising the President's national security and foreign policy.

Mr Bolton previously appeared on GB News, saying the President "does not" care about how the Ukraine war ends and warns of a "disaster" for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Mr Bolton claimed that the President "does not understand what collective defence alliances are" and called Mr Trump "dangerous" for Europe.

He also criticised Mr Trump's trade deals with the European Union, saying he "does not like" dealing with the EU.
