Michelle Dewberry has launched a scathing attack on anti-Trump protesters who had "grotesque" displays of the American leader.

The demonstrations occurred on Wednesday as President Trump attended his second UK state visit, with Metropolitan Police estimating approximately 5,000 participants gathered in Parliament Square.

The Stop Trump Coalition, comprising over 50 unions and charitable organisations, orchestrated the main march from Portland Place near BBC Broadcasting House to Whitehall around 3pm.

Michelle raged on GB News: "Well, all I can say is that I’m very pleased all of this pomp and ceremony was restricted to Windsor.

"It kept Donald Trump away from some absolute raving lunatics, in my opinion, because one of the things that caught my eye was the protests taking place.

"There are still some protests, by the way I think even now in Edinburgh. But look at this. What I saw, I think, is absolutely revolting.

"Just to be clear, there is a more graphic version of this, but in case some of you are of a sensitive disposition, I decided to spare you that.

"I think you can get the gist. Here is a protester dragging through the streets an effigy of a dead Donald Trump, bleeding from the head.

"I find that grotesque, repulsive, and quite frankly idiotic. Just stupid people."

King Charles and Mr Trump travelled together in the lead carriage, whilst Queen Camilla accompanied First Lady Melania Trump in a separate vehicle.

LATEST POLITICAL DEVELOPMENTS:

The Prince and Princess of Wales attended the ceremonies, with approximately 1,300 British military personnel participating in what officials described as the most extensive armed forces welcome for a state visit in recent memory.

The day's events included Mr Trump reviewing the Guard of Honour, a performance by 200 military musicians, and the Red Arrows aerobatic team conducting their first-ever flypast for a state visit.

The protests occurred simultaneously with the royal ceremonies, creating a stark juxtaposition between the formal diplomatic reception and street demonstrations.

Whilst Windsor hosted the elaborate state proceedings, activists gathered in both London and Edinburgh to voice their opposition to the presidential visit.

Four individuals faced arrest after projecting photographs of Mr Trump alongside Jeffrey Epstein onto Windsor Castle's walls the evening before the state visit commenced.

Demonstrations continued throughout the day, with Edinburgh witnessing ongoing protests even as the state banquet concluded.
