Peterson said the world has always been multicultural

Jordan Peterson has hit out at multiculturalism, branding it a “stupid” concept in a scathing rant.

Speaking on GB News, he said the world has always been multicultural and pushing society in that direction is unlikely to succeed.

“There’s no such thing as a multicultural philosophy”, he told Camilla Tominey.

“It's so puerile and moralising and unsophisticated that it's kind of a miracle of stupidity. I mean, first of all, we've always had a multicultural world.

“That's why there's been wars, right? So along with multiculturalism goes wars when the cultures don't get along.”

He told Tominey that multiculturalism is unlikely to succeed due to differing characteristics of different cultures.

“If you think you can import multitude of cultures without a unifying rubric and not import the problem of interpersonal and social conflict, you're either blind or stupid or both.

“And both is a dreadful combination. So like what? On what basis does multiculturalism become peace?

“You wave some magic wand and all of a sudden everybody gives up their cultural differences and can live in harmony.”

It comes after former Prime Minister John Howard delivered similar sentiments on GB News, telling Camilla Tominey he has “doubts” about the concept.

“I believe that when you migrate to another country you should, as far as reasonably, be expected to absorb the mainstream culture of that country”, he said.

“Sure, retain your affection for Greece or Italy or wherever you’ve come from.”

Home Secretary Suella Braverman has also suggested multiculturalism has failed, which some have slapped down.

Labour MP Lisa Nandy told the BBC that the UK has been “shaped by waves of immigration over many centuries”.

She added that it is a “gift” to grow up amongst friends of different diversities.

Braverman’s predecessor, Priti Patel, also hit out at Braverman’s comment, suggesting on Sky News they may have been “to get attention”.
