Hundreds rallied on Thursday after Israel carried out airstrikes across the Gaza Strip

This is the moment a tearful Jewish student desperately called for a pro-Palestine demonstration at the University of Washington to be halted.

Hundreds rallied on Thursday after Israel carried out airstrikes across the Gaza Strip in response to a terror attack by Hamas.

Demonstrators at the university held aloft Palestinian flags and chanted slogans calling for liberation, such as “occupation is a crime” and “we will never let you die”.

In shocking footage from the event, a tearful group of Jewish students can be seen desperately calling for the demonstration to come to an end.

One could be heard telling a man the protesters “want our people dead” amid repeated questioning as to why the university was facilitating the event.

It is unclear as to whether the man is a security presence or a figure of authority at the university.

In a desperate plea, the tearful girl could be heard saying: “How is this allowed? How are you allowing this?

“They want us dead. Please end it, please.”

The University of Washington is not unique in how a large collection of its students have carried out demonstrations in response to the conflict.

Tense scenes were witnessed at Columbia University on the same day of the demonstration in Washington, as two groups of hundreds of students faced each other in duelling pro-Israel and pro-Palestinian protests.

Public access was also blocked to the New York City campus as a safety measure.

Israel has bombarded and laid siege to the Gaza Strip, and plans a ground invasion.

The Israeli death toll had risen to more than 1,300, according to public broadcaster Kan, while Gaza authorities estimate more than 1,500 Palestinians had been killed.

While college campuses have become areas of conflict, the US government remains steadfast in its support for Israel.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken has visited Israel in a show of support for their ally, where he delivered a news conference.

Blinken compared Hamas’s attacks on Israel to Nazi massacres, while reaffirming the US’ separate for Israel Premier Benjamin Netanyahu.

US President Joe Biden branded Hamas’s attacks on Israel as “pure, unadulterated evil”.

He added: “We stand with Israel, and we will make sure Israel has what it needs to take care of its citizens, defend itself and respond to this attack.”
