'This is beyond fake. This is CORRUPT!' Donald Trump blasts the BBC in GB News world exclusive as he vows to sue for $5BILLION

The programme spliced clips together from sections of the US President’s speech which took place almost an hour apart to make it appear he told supporters he was going to walk to the Capitol with them to “fight like hell”.

Lawyers acting on behalf of the US President threatened earlier this week to sue the broadcaster for $1billion, leading the BBC apologise for an "error of judgement".

But in spite of the public apology, speaking to GB News last night Mr Trump said he had no choice but to continue with the lawsuit.

He said: "I'm not looking to get into lawsuits, but I think I have an obligation to do it.

"This was so egregious. If you don't do it, you don't stop it from happening again with other people. I'd like to find out why they did it."

Speaking to the media on Air Force One shortly after Bev Turner's interview, the President appeared to up the stakes once again, saying he planned to sue for as much as $5billion.

His comments on the BBC are likely to now signal a major crisis for the corporation as he doubles down on his plans to take legal action.

"They took my words - my mouth - and they had different words coming out to make it sound bad.

"I made a beautiful statement and made it into a not beautiful statement," he told GB News.

"You know, the word fake is one thing but this is beyond fake. This is corrupt what they did."

The doctored speech by Mr Trump was aired on BBC Panorama last year, just days before the US Presidential election, as well as on BBC Newsnight in 2022.

The revelations, which came to light in a leaked BBC memo published by the Daily Telegraph, led to the resignation of the corporation's director-general, Tim Davie, as well as head of news, Deborah Turness.

News headlines in Britain have been dominated by the scandal ever since the revelations came to light nearly 10 days ago.

And the US President admitted it had been "the biggest story over here" in America too.

He added: "You know, you worry about AI because things like this can happen, you know, with their different geniuses.

"I mean, you know, you can do things. I've seen things that are incredible, but you can't imagine that BBC did this somewhat crudely, actually."

The corporation has denied the January 6 speech was deliberately altered to paint Mr Trump in a bad light and has refused to pay compensation.

During a wide-ranging interview Mr Trump also warned Britain “had to do something about immigration”.

And he re-ignited his war of words with Sadiq Khan, describing the Mayor of London as a terrible mayor and a "disaster".

He said: "Look at the crime you have in London. My mother loved London. She loved that city. She would always talk about it. That was a different London than you have today.

"Today you have people being stabbed in the ass or worse."

Blaming Sadiq Khan, he said: "I can tell you he is a disaster. He's a nasty person and he's letting crime go.

"You have areas in London - and you have this in Paris too - where police don't even want to go anywhere near those areas."
