Sadiq Khan sparked an outer borough backlash by extending his carbon-cutting Ulez scheme to the entirety of London

An anti-Ulez protester has been left on crutches after being hit by a mobile camera van.

The vehicle, which was patrolling the area to capture drivers entering the extended low emissions area, rammed into activist Heather Watts.

Watts joined a group of anti-Ulez protesters on a quiet lane in Biggin Hill in Bromley.

Activists across London disrupt Ulez-enforcing vehicles by blocking the cameras.

Fellow protester Claire Dyer reportedly raced after the mobile camera van.

Dyer, who said she was on the phone to the police, eventually stood in front of the vehicle.

Watts was heard screaming as she was knocked down by the vehicle, adding: “I’ve hurt my leg.”

She told ITV: “They knocked me in my legs which then pushed me onto the bonnet and then I was hobbling to try and get away.

"I thought I was going to go under the car, to be honest.

"And with that they just went. I've got bruising on my ankle, both shins, my knee and the top of thigh is very sore."

Despite sustaining injuries, the driving instructor was not put off and vowed to return to protest against Sadiq Khan’s Ulez expansion on crutches.

Susan Hall, who is standing as the Conservative candidate for the next London Mayoral Election, said: “It’s apparently a hit-and-run by one of Sadiq Khan’s Ulez enforcers on the streets of London.

“The Ulez itself is a dreadful thing, nobody wanted it in, but to see that poor women lying in the street because she’s apparently been knocked over by a Ulez enforcer is just shocking.”

However, a spokesperson for Transport for London said earlier this week: “We are investigating exactly what happened but it is our understanding that no-one was seriously injured.”

Another Ulez vigilante who thwarts the scheme by covering Sadiq Khan’s cameras with stickers was caught on camera.

Footage showed a figure climbing up a pole to put a sticker over one of the enforcement cameras.

The activist, known as the Phantom Sticker Man, is allegedly responsible for sticking hundreds of stickers on the devices which track non-compliant drivers entering and leaving Greater London.
