A discussion on GB News has reignited the debate over whether men should offer their seats to women on public transport, with Patrick Christys describing the situation as "a minefield".
The guest, who appeared on Patrick Christys live audience programme, expressed frustration about her own experiences on the London Underground.

She said: "Coming into Paddington tonight did I get a seat? Did I heck. Men were just sitting there, drinking and doing whatever.

On X, one person wrote: "I understand that men don't offer their seats on the Tube to women anywhere but we've now reached where they will all but push you out of the way to sit first?? What is going on."
During the GB News discussion, Charlie Downes, from the Centre for Migration Control, offered his perspective on the seat-giving dilemma.
"I actually do try to give up my seat on public transport when there's a woman of a certain age standing nearby," he explained.

"It might sound odd, but I think it’s a generational thing. If it’s a woman my age, I hesitate because I don’t want her to think I’m hitting on her."
Patrick said: "It becomes a minefield it is genuinely awkward."
Downes added: "But here's another point: the orthodox feminist position is that men shouldn't give up their seats simply because someone's a woman. That’s what gender equality means, right?"
