As the year draws to a close, many Britons may be looking ahead to their 2026 holiday plans.
But there are certain places across the globe where travel is considered riskier, with the Foreign Office (FCDO) currently issuing warnings for 55 destinations.
Holidaymakers who ignore the warnings and travel to these countries risk finding themselves without any form of support should problems arise during their visit.
The FCDO has cautioned that travellers may also be putting their personal safety at risk by visiting these destinations.

The travel guidance is only implemented when the FCDO assesses that British citizens face dangers it considers excessive.
Such assessments may stem from situations including armed conflicts affecting the area.
Terrorist threats can also trigger these warnings, though the FCDO applies specific criteria before issuing such advice.
Natural disasters represent another category of risk that may prompt travel warnings to be put in place.

The Government may issue warnings for entire nations or solely for particular regions within a country.
Travellers can access specific details through the "warnings and insurance" section on each destination's travel advice page.
