The mother revealed her daughter is now 'completely indoctrinated into transgender ideology'

A girls' school has been accused of refusing to tell a mother it accepted a transgender pupil.

The mother, who was not named, said she learned of the incident when she overheard her 14-year-old daughter and friend chatting about the trans classmate's previous male identity.

Raising to this her older daughter, she was then shown the Instagram and TikTok account of a transgender pupil who had "transitioned" in Year Six.

The mother said "a raft of questions" flew through her brain, questioning how the trans pupil was allowed into the school.

Concerns she raised included if the pupil in question had been using the same toilets and changing rooms, if staff had carried out a risk assessment, and what safeguards had been put in place.

She added: "Why had this been kept a secret from parents?"

But when she raised the issue with the school and local authority, she was given a "chilling" silence, she told The Telegraph.

The headteacher of the school responded to the concerned mother by reiterating the school was a "single-sex school" and it was unable to discuss specific pupils under the Equality Act.

Last April, the Supreme Court ruled that the Equality Act's definition of gender is defined as biological sex when protecting single-sex spaces.

As a result of the school's actions, she felt she was denied the ability to have a wider discussion with her daughter about transgender ideology, she said.

She also raised concerns for other local parents, who may have chosen the school for religious reasons.

"In tandem with the debate over transgender sports, is it right that a biological boy is awarded a highly sought-after place at an all-girls school, wins prizes at an awards evening meant for girls and takes the place of a girl on the netball pitch in competitions?" she added.

She added that her own daughter is now "completely indoctrinated" into transgender ideology.

The anonymous mother alleged her daughter's school has taught its pupils "through actions and curriculum" to accept that a boy who self-identifies as a girl is a girl.

The school also told staff to not call pupil's girls as the term was deemed to be not inclusive, she added.

"Her boundaries about what is acceptable and what she is entitled to in terms of her privacy and dignity are completely skewed," the mother said.

Last month, Bridget Phillipson's Department for Education released proposed new guidance which said schools must accept primary-age pupils if they choose to change genders.

The new transgender guidance to schools, which is currently under consultation until April 22, did say the topic of transitioning within school should be approached with care, adding that "caution is necessary" when teachers and parents broach the topic.

It also reinforced that single-sex spaces should be protected, and bans mixed sex sleeping on class field trips and mixed sex toilet facilities.

The new guidance added that schools must be aware of a pupil's biological sex and have this on records.

But Reform UK's education spokeswoman Suella Braverman said the move "amounts to a betrayal of children", many of whom "require a mental health intervention not a surgical intervention".
