The shopper claimed the Tesco staff member appeared to be disgusted

A mum was left in tears due to a Tesco employee's reaction to her sick son eating a snack while they shopped.

Samantha Mary shared her experience on TikTok after receiving a disapproving response from the cashier when she handed over two opened yogurts to be scanned.

The mum claims the Tesco staff member appeared disgusted after receiving the opened products which her son had eaten as they went around the store.

According to Mary, the woman scanned the yogurts before throwing them in the bin despite them not being finished.

In a video on TikTok, she said: "When it was our turn, I said to the lady serving us, 'I just want to let you know, Jack's eating these two on the way around here. Here they are so that you can scan them'.

"I didn't want to just leave them amongst the shopping. She literally gave me the most disgusted look.

"Didn't say a word. Scanned them then threw them in the bin. They weren't actually finished.

"I hadn't passed them to her to have them put in the bin, I passed them to her to try and be polite so they could be scanned."

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

The primary school teacher said the worker "tutted" and "huffed" as she retrieved the yogurts.

She also claims the employee said it didn't feel it was "right" that some people "let their kids eat stuff from the food shop on the way around the shop".

Mary said she told the cashier: "I don't really think it is your job to be giving your opinion on what you think - my child is really unwell."

She added that her son had "basically not eaten properly for a week" at the time, so she "jumped on that opportunity for him to have something to eat".

"If you don't believe in something being done, it's nothing to do with you. It's not your business. I'm honestly still furious at the whole situation," she said.

Opinion was divided on the matter with many arguing that she was in the wrong.

One person wrote: "You are absolutely in the wrong. Tesco isn't an all you can eat buffet where you pay by plate at the end."

Another added: "It’s 100% her job to let you know you’re NOT allowed to eat or drink anything before you’ve paid for it. I use to work at Tesco and you are the worst."
