Terry Gilliam's adaptation of Into the Woods will take to the stage after the film director was "cancelled" by the Old Vic theatre in London.
The Monty Python star will debut the new version of the Sondheim show at the Theatre Royal Bath and it is believed it will run for four weeks.
Gilliam received backlash for his views on trans issues, as well as the #MeToo movement.
The Theatre Royal Bath has a long history of hosting West End productions.
Scenario Two co-director John Berry who is part of the creative team said "We feel privileged to be working on this wonderful work and we are extremely grateful to Steve and James Lapine for their support as we searched for a new home for this production."
Anthony Lilley added that the team are "thrilled that this collaboration with our new partners Theatre Royal Bath will mean that this production of Into the Woods can now finally be seen by Stephen Sondheim‘s huge UK fan base".
The team have also reportedly had interest from London's Haymarket Theatre and Broadway.
Gilliam rose to fame in the 1970s as a co-founder of the surrealist comedy group Monty Python, alongside Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Sir Michael Palin.
