MPs have been invited to discuss slavery reparations with a Caribbean delegation in Westminster.
The group of activists and academics could demand that the UK pay trillions of pounds, with the hope that Labour might be sympathetic to their cause after years of Conservative rejections.
Sir Keir Starmer and Foreign Secretary David Lammy have been invited, with suggestions that Lammy may be more understanding of the case due to his Guyanese descent.
Insiders have heard that Lammy will host a "Caricom forum", which would listen to submissions about reparations, but sources suggest this has been pushed back.
Starmer and Lammy have been invited to the discussion
PACaricom refers to the Caribbean Community, a supranational body which represents the region.
The Conservatives had been against discussing the idea when they were in power.
Starmer came under pressure at the 2024 Commonwealth summit in Samoa, where the issue had been placed on the official agenda.
Lammy suggested that reparations do not need to be a "cash transfer" but could include "other forms of non-financial reparatory justice too".

Britain signed off on the Commonwealth summit statement, which pushed for "inclusive conversations" about reparations for slavery.
It noted there was a need to address "chattel enslavement… dispossession of indigenous people, indentureship [and] colonialism".
The delegation will be hosted by Labour MP Bell Ribeiro-Addy in Parliament on July 2, who leads the African reparations campaign and supports the cause.
The Repair Campaign, founded by Irish billionaire Denis O'Brien, backs the Caribbean's efforts to receive reparations.

The campaign will visit Brussels before travelling to London to meet MPs.
In a statement, the group said: "The visit comes amid rising calls from Caribbean Governments for the UK and other European nations to engage with formal demands for reparations for slavery and its enduring impacts across the region."
Events are set to be held at Portcullis House on the parliamentary estate.
Other delegates expected to attend in London include leading professors from the University of the West Indies, as well as O'Brien and his colleagues.
