Thousands of Sky Mobile users have reported issues with the provider

Sky Mobile has suffered a huge outage this afternoon as it users complain that their phone network is down.

Thousands of customers reported issues with Sky Mobile to online outage monitor Downdetector.


The problems started just before 2pm today with the outage affecting users across the country.

So far, more than 1,945 issues have been logged with most reports coming from London, Edinburgh, Leeds, Glasgow, Birmingham, Motherwell, Manchester, Bristol, and Leicester.

Many users have tweeted to complain about being unable to make or receive phone calls.

While others have stated that they are not able to send or receive text messages, and are unable to use mobile internet services.

Sky say they are "aware" of the issue and apologised for "any inconvenience this may be causing".

"We are aware that some Sky Mobile customers are experiencing issues with making and receiving calls right now," Sky tweeted.

"We are investigating the issue and we are sorry for any inconvenience this may be causing."

According to Downdetector, 72 per cent of those who reported problems said it was with their phone, 26 per cent were having issues with internet, and one per cent appeared to be having issues with television.

Although Sky Mobile uses the O2 network, a spokesperson for Virgin Media O2 confirmed that only Sky customers are affected.

“We’re aware of the issue that is impacting Sky Mobile customers. Whilst they use the O2 network, this issue is impacting Sky Mobile services only and our network is working as usual," they said.

The outage comes just a month after Vodafone suffered a seven hour black out which left users unable to use their internet service.

At the time, Vodafone said: "We have now fixed the issue impacting just over 1 per cent of our home broadband customers today.

"Customers should already be seeing their connectivity return. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience to anyone impacted today, and can confirm this was an isolated incident."
