Hotel Chocolat has issued an urgent recall for a product due to undeclared peanuts being present in the ingredients.
The chocolatier's Caramel Milk Batons, sold between 21 October and 9 November, contain peanuts, something not mentioned on the label.
Customers who have purchased the product with an allergy to peanuts are urged not to consume the chocolate due to possibly serious health risks.
A refund is available at any Hotel Chocolat outlet for those affected.
In a statement, Hotel Chocolat said: "We have identified that Caramel Milk Batons (Weight 120g) sold between 21 October and 9 November with lot number 22286 and 22287 contain peanuts, which is not a stated ingredient on the packing.
"You will be at risk if you are allergic to peanuts and consume this product.
"If you have purchased or collected this product from one of our stores between 21 October and 9 November with the affected lot number, please return any remaining product/packaging or proof of purchase to your nearest Hotel Chocolat store where you will be issued with a full refund or exchange.
"Any purchases made online are not impacted.
"We're very sorry that it has been necessary to recall this product and for the inconvenience caused.
"Please contact allergen@hotelchocolat.com for any additional support."
Allergy to peanuts can in some cases be severe, and is the most common food allergy in children under 18.
The most common symptoms that arise from an allergic reaction to peanuts include skin swells, stomach cramps, vomiting and nausea.
Affected customers are urged to return the product at their nearest Hotel Chocolat store.
