A woman has been banned from entering Scarborough for five years following a series of alcohol-related incidents that left residents and police officers traumatised.

Sadie Lauren Metcalf, 31, received the criminal behaviour order after appearing in court for multiple offences, including shoplifting, public disorder violations and assaulting a police officer.

The ban comes after Metcalf repeatedly harassed members of the public whilst intoxicated, creating fear and distress throughout the coastal community.

Her aggressive behaviour escalated to physical violence against law enforcement, prompting authorities to seek the exclusion order to protect Scarborough's residents and visitors from further incidents.

The court proceedings addressed three separate shoplifting charges alongside two counts of breaching public order.

Metcalf had also violated the conditions of an existing criminal behaviour order, demonstrating her disregard for previous court restrictions.

These latest offences formed part of an ongoing pattern of disruptive conduct that had plagued the Yorkshire seaside resort.

Her appearance before magistrates resulted in the comprehensive five-year exclusion from Scarborough, marking an escalation in judicial response to her persistent offending.

Her criminal history includes a violent confrontation with police in 2024 that resulted in imprisonment.

During that incident, Metcalf directed racial abuse at pedestrians before attacking responding officers with wooden shelving units.

The assault escalated when she hurled plant pots from a balcony at law enforcement personnel attempting to arrest her.

Local media characterised the episode as a "racially charged tirade" that shocked the community.
