Officers from Surrey Police want to speak to the 10-year-old’s father, stepmother and uncle

Police in Pakistan have confirmed they received a request to search for Sara Sharif’s family five days after she was found dead in Woking.

An Interpol request to search for the 10-year-old’s father Urfan Sharif, his partner Beinash Batool and his brother Faisal Malik was received by authorities in Islamabad on August 15.

Urfan Sharif reported his daughter’s death to Surrey Police on August 10.

Surrey Police launched a murder investigation after the young girl was found dead at her home.

But it has since been revealed family members were staying with relatives in Pakistan until around August 13.

It is not yet known where the trio went, the BBC has claimed.

However, it has been suggested the family members’ last location was a small hamlet near Domeli in central Punjab.

Police believe the family arrived at Urfan Sharif’s sister and brother-in-law’s home on August 12.

The brother-in-law was reportedly taken in by police.

Speaking to the BBC, the brother-in-law's uncle, Ameer Afzal, said: "Urfan Sharif visited us.

“I didn't meet him personally, but my family told me in the morning that he visited with his family at night.

"We are very worried about why the police took my nephew.

“If there is any issue with the Urfan's family, we have nothing to do with that."

Syed Khurram Ali, from the Punjab police, also said: "His brother-in-law said that they were leaving the house at 5am and I asked them [if] you came at 12 in the night now you are leaving so quickly?

"They said we have some important thing[s] to do, but didn't explain what.

“When we asked the family what was the reason for the visit, they say it is just a routine visit."

Ali claimed a request from Interpol was received through the Pakistan Federal Investigation Agency on August 15.

Police believe the 10-year-old’s father, step-mother and uncle landed at Islamabad airport on August 10.

Urfan Sharif went on to call 999, leading Surrey Police to Sara’s body.

An inquest into the 10-year-old’s death revealed she sustained “multiple and extensive injuries”.
