Millionaire property tycoon Samuel Leeds has more than 260,000 followers on TikTok

A controversial landlord has admitted carving a hole in a door with a chainsaw to "evict" somebody was a "stunt".

Samuel Leeds, 32, joined Patrick Christys on GB News to discuss the incident after footage went viral on social media.

He released a 24-second video showing him cut an enormous square around the door before kicking through it.

However, Leeds told Christys: "I did it deliberately as a stunt because I know guarenteed, I said to all my friends, the media would report it like crazy and make me look like the bad guy.

"But the interesting thing is if you go to a shop and you steal something, you go and steal bread, everyone will say 'that person deserves to be punished.

"But for some weird reason, you steal from a landlord or property owner and then suddenly it's alright.

"I'm the criminal, I'm the bad guy, for evicting that person. There's a lot of nonsense being talked about on social media."

Leeds, who revealed TikTok banned the video, claimed nobody was inside the property and it had been purchased as a "hotel".

The property investor, who changed his profile picture on social media to an image of him holding the chainsaw outside the property, wrote on Twitter: “Today, I had to evict somebody out of my property with a chainsaw.

"If they were at a hotel and refused to check out, security would break entry within the hour.

"My lawyer suggested I send a certified bailiff, but I figured it was more fun doing it myself."

Sharing footage of the 24-second clip, Leeds added: "This is what happens when you stop paying and refuse to leave my property. Sue me. You’re a guest and have no rights."

However, not everyone is convinced Leeds was actually carrying out an eviction.

The social media personality, who is known for making outlandish claims, presented no evidence that the incident came as a result of an eviction.

It is also illegal for anyone other than a court bailiff to carry out an eviction.

Shelter, a charity which campaigns for tenant rights and against homelessness, said: "Bailiffs must give two weeks' notice of an eviction date."

Citizens' Advice has also suggested private tenants are not "guests" and do have statutory rights.

Leeds also faced a barrage of complaints on social media, with many flagging inconsistencies with his account.

One user said: "As a landlord, I'm surprised he didn't have a master key to enter.

"However, he is required to provide 24-hour notice before doing so."

Another added: "Do all your properties have cardboard doors?"

A third wrote: "I can't imagine just how weak in the mind you'd have to be not only to do this, but to think posting this online would be a good idea."
