Jobs for bar staff and waiters are among those being advertised with higher pay than a year ago, while the number of positions for chefs with a salary of more than £50,000 a year has increased, said Caterer.com.

Salaries for jobs in hospitality have increased by up to 12%, with a record number offering a wage of more than £50,000, new research suggests.

Jobs for bar staff and waiters are among those being advertised with higher pay than a year ago, while the number of positions for chefs with a salary of more than £50,000 a year has increased, said Caterer.com.

The recruiter’s survey of 2,000 workers and 250 hospitality companies found that many employers are offering flexible working hours, bonus pay and other perks like free meals, to recruit staff.

Kathy Dyball, director at Caterer.com, said: “The hospitality sector offers incredible long-term career opportunities and our report shows how rewarding a job can be, not only financially but also enriched by flexibility and work life balance.

“Beyond salaries, workers are driven by training and development and clear levels of promotions which the majority of businesses already offer.

“We are seeing great measures being taken by employers across the sector to help change misconceptions around the industry, but there is always more that can be done.”
