Revealed: List of COP26 protests as up to 100,000 activists to descend on Glasgow

Eco-activist Greta Thunberg has graced Glasgow with her presence, having arrived in the city on Saturday

Up to 100,000 protesters are expected to descend on Glasgow for the COP26 climate summit, sparking chaos across the city.

Extinction Rebellion and Insulate Britain are just a few of the groups which could bring the city to a standstill.


Eco-activist Greta Thunberg has also graced Glasgow with her presence, having arrived in the city on Saturday, while Oxfam and Ocean Rebellion have already taken action in the city.

Here's a list of all the direct action planned across Scotland during the two-week talks.

Monday November 1 - Red Rebel Train

Extinction Rebellion will join members of the Red Bridge Rebel group which began a three-day train pilgrimage in Cornwall on October 30 and finishes in Glasgow on November 1.

Wednesday November 3 - Greenwash March

Glasgow will be hit by a march through the city centre, starting at midday. Friday November 5 - Fridays for Future march Protesters will be marching from 11am with a rally concluding in George Square.

Saturday 6 - Global Day of Action

The biggest planned day of protests, with between 50,000-100,000 activists to hit the streets of Glasgow. The march starts at Kelvingrove Park and finishes at Glasgow Green via the city centre.

November 7-12 - Smaller scale protests

Activists will be aiming to keep pressure on world leaders throughout the duration of the summit. Smaller protests could take place around Britain as activists look to get their message across to politicians and voters.
