Rapist Met Police officer David Carrick could KEEP £22,000 pension

Rapist policeman David Carrick received at least £60,000 from the Metropolitan Police while remanded in custody, it has been revealed.

The 48-year-old continued to receive his salary in full for over a year after he was first accused.

Carrick admitted to more than 70 sex attacks on 12 women after being first arrested on suspicion of rape in July 2021.

Despite his initial arrest, the officer wasn’t suspended from his role as a parliamentary and diplomatic protection officer.

Instead, he was withdrawn from public-facing deployments with restricted duties and a removal of his firearms authorisation.

The Met chose to reinstate him in September after Carrick’s victim opted to drop the complaint at the time.

A stoppage to his pay was eventually enforced after he entered his first guilty plea to offences in December last year.

Carrick has since been sacked from the force as officials begin the process of stripping him of his pension.

It is understood that there is no mechanism in place that means he has to repay the money.

Government rules mean suspended police officers who are the subject of misconduct hearings must receive their pay.

The Metropolitan Police have not commented on the reports.
