Queen Elizabeth II’s favourite television show has been revealed, with the former monarch able to “recite one-liners from it”.

And now Queen Elizabeth II’s favourite TV show has been revealed by journalist Phil Jones.
Mr Jones claims the former monarch told him about her favourite programme during a visit to Buckingham Palace in 2001 but has kept it secret until now.

He said: "In 2001 I was invited to a media function at Buckingham Palace.
"We chatted for ages, which I can tell you is rather surreal. My brain kept saying, 'Bloody hell I’m talking to the Queen and I can’t think of a single thing to say!'
"In the end, I alighted on, 'What’s your favourite programme?'
“Straightaway, she said, 'The Kumars at No. 42' and, even more astonishingly, proceeded to recite some of the one-liners from the grandma character, played by the brilliant Meera Syal," he told the New Statesman.
The Kumars at No.42 is a programme which ran from 2001 to 2006.
It centred around an aspiring chat-show host, Sanjeev Kumar, who had celebrity guests round his house to talk to them.
But many of the interactions go wrong after members of Mr Kumar’s family got involved.
