The Duke was colonel of the Grenadier Guards but had the ceremonial title removed over sexual abuse allegations

Prince Andrew has been spotted sporting his Grenadier Guards uniform, despite being stripped of his privileges by the Queen.

The Prince was banned from participating in public aspects of the Order of the Garter last month, over fears he would be booed upon arrival.

It was later revealed Prince Charles and Prince William pursued the Queen to remove the disgraced royal from the service, with her Majesty ruling his exclusion as a decision for "his own good", according to The Sun.

Royal sources claimed William threatened to refrain from partaking in celebrations, if his uncle showed up at the service.

The Duke was a colonel in the Grenadier Guards, but had his ceremonial title removed at the start of the year as he prepared to pay a multi-million-pound settlement to Jeffrey Epstein victim Virginia Guiffre to keep her allegations of sexual abuse, which he denies, out of court.

The disgraced Duke of York was spotted wearing a fleece and jacket bearing the regiment's royal cypher while horse riding.

Palace insiders says he deliberately wears the uniform and rides close to press photographers at Windsor, the Sun reports.

62-year-old Prince Andrew served as a Royal Navy helicopter pilot during the Falklands War, and has never been a serving guardsmen.

Julian Perreira, former Grenadier Guard, who served three tours of Afghanistan, said in an interview with the Sun: "It’s wholly inappropriate that he continues to wear the uniform.

“He has been asked to leave and hand over his title. He is continuing to tarnish the regiment.

“He didn’t serve in the Grenadier Guards, it was only ceremonial so he has no right to continue to wear the royal cypher.

"But no one can officially tell him to stop wearing it and he knows he can get away with it.”

A source said: “It is pretty clear he is doing it deliberately and stepped it up as soon as he was told he wouldn’t get his post back”.

The Duke of York was absent from recent Jubilee Celebrations as he returned a positive Covid test in the run-up to the event.
